Visitors in my garden

Well, we have mice. Every morning, DH and I take a walk together at 6:30am while the boys are still in bed. Yesterday, when I went to get the dog & his leash, there was a little "gift" in his kennel - a dead mouse. It reminded me of the story, "Of Mice and Men"...I guess Bruno (our dogs name) found a pet that he wanted to hug and love and lick - and did so, until it was licked to death. But that was the second mouse I have seen around our house - and then when we took our walk there seem to be an abundance of dead mice on the side walks. Guess it has been so hot and dry lately that they have been suffering. Nevertheless, when I went out to check our garden this morning, all of the strawberries that were on the vines yesterday, were gone this morning...and the tomatoes had bites taken out of them. Oh, well...

It is Tuesday...

Well, it is a boring post title, but I couldn't come up with any other way to start. I appreciate all the comments yesterday - and yes, I love my job (I know that with the economy the way it is and all those who have lost there jobs...well, I just hope that I didn't come off braggy). But saying that...without having the stress of getting ready for work this week, it has made for dealing with all the other "things" that I need to organize - like making sure that the hockey gear is washed and ready for the boys to pack up before going to their afternoon camp and getting all the pre-skate snacks & post-skate recovery foods packed up. Last week DH came home from work early and went to the hockey clinic with us. I don't think that he really realized how much "behind the scenes" work goes into getting the boys around for this clinic. And once he did, he acknowledged it in his "thank you" to me and a little lecture to the boys. Only 3 more days of this clinic and then we have a week off next week...before another one starts and we get into tryout already.

Yesterday I mailed one of my stitched gifts and will be putting an exchange in the mail soon too. Other than that, not much stitching occurred yesterday - more visiting with other hockey moms at the rink...all the buzz right now revolves around upcoming tryouts, the coaches of the teams and "who is going to tryout where". And while I do participate in these discussions, it is really sad when you think about all the rumors that get started with this kind of chatter. It is also how kid sports get "messed up"...for this should just be out the kids and the parents just need to really "let it go". But, we all want the best for our kids...

Speaking of kids...has anyone out there seen "My Sister's Keeper". WOW what a tear jerker! I didn't only have tears streaming down my face, but I was actually crying (bawling). I didn't read the book, but knew the just of the story (although I was told that the ending in the book is different than the ending in the movie). Just incase you are planning to go, I will not ruin the story for you...but just remember to bring a HUGE box of tissues! The next movie that I want to see is called Julie and Julia - based on the story of a lady who cooked every recipe in Julia Child's cookbooks and blogged about it. I don't know if this is the "real" Julie/Julia Project blog but I did find a blog with that title and talks about cooking through the books...I haven't read it all, but thought I would soon.
